Miasma
(2020)

Progressive Electronic, Ambient

EP two-of-four during my spring 2020 "quarantine sessions". This one is also electronic/synth based, but more new age/ambient influenced. This also features the first album cover I made in POV-Ray; it's a really simple scene with just a height_field to make the island, and then the color of the sky_spehere changed to green. A sort of fun fact about the cover art is that the squares are actually null characters from a font error, and when I showed some friends, they agreed that the null characters actually looked cool.

As for the actual music, not too much to delve into, I think. "Miasma" was obviously named after the miasma theory, which, given the state of the world at the time, shows where my head was at. The phonecall recording on "Nightmare" is still a mystery to me. I found it on the web archive (this particular recording was marked public domain), and it must've been a caller into a radio program, or podcast or something about dreams or nightmares and I found it really interesting how it mirrored a lot of my recurring nightmares as a kid (although instead of monsters and dinosaurs, I had to stop a shadow man in a station wagon from getting in my house)

"Unknowing" was written around the same time as "Computer Anthems". It's sad.
